Put the official calendar in one shared place
Rockwall ISD publishes the 2026–27 district calendar and a live district events calendar. The school year began August 13, 2026. Upcoming district-wide dates shown by the district include a September 7 holiday, September 28 staff-development day and October 9 early release. Confirm each date against your child's campus communication before making arrangements.
Mark the days that create a coverage gap
Color-code full closures, early releases and longer breaks differently. A two-hour early release can be harder to cover than a full holiday because many camps and family helpers are organized around full days.

Ask care providers earlier than feels necessary
School-break programs can have different hours, ages, registration windows and fees. Confirm whether transportation is offered and whether enrollment is by day or by full week. A familiar backup option is worth identifying even if you hope not to use it.

Weather and district decisions can change the year. Subscribe to Rockwall ISD and campus communications, then review the family calendar once a month instead of relying on the version saved in August.
A school calendar becomes useful only after every no-school and short-school day has a named adult or a reserved plan.
