Rockwall-area families have three very different pumpkin options: a reserved farm visit at Blase, a flexible animal-focused outing at Huddin and a shorter downtown stop in Royse City. The best choice is the one that fits your child’s age, your budget and the amount of planning energy you have left.

The quick answer

Choose Blase when you want a reserved time, an included hayride and a clearly published activity list. Choose Huddin when your children are excited about animals and your family wants to arrive without a reservation. Choose Royse City when the goal is simply a pumpkin, a few photos and an easy exit.

Blase Family Farm: the more structured plan

Blase lists 2026 admission at $12 per person, with children age one and younger admitted free. Visits require a reservation through the farm’s signup link, a system the farm says helps manage crowds and parking. Parking is free.

Admission includes the petting zoo, hayride, child-sized hay maze and Spookley the Square Pumpkin story trail. Weekday admission also includes a small pumpkin. Weekend admission includes a hot dog. Additional pumpkins are sold separately, from $2 minis to larger pumpkins priced up to $20.

The setting is wooded and naturally shaded, but the farm specifically warns that its paths are not paved. Expect roots, rocks, holes, hills and uneven ground. A baby carrier may be easier than a lightweight stroller, and closed-toe shoes are the practical choice for walkers.

Huddin Homestead: animals and flexible arrival

Huddin Homestead, at 1666 FM 1141, lists pumpkin-season hours of 9 AM–9 PM daily. Admission is $15 per person, children under 24 months are free, and visitors pay at the gate without a reservation.

Admission includes farm activities, the pumpkin patch, playground, petting zoo and one cup of animal feed. Pony and train rides cost extra. Outside food is permitted, and the farm notes gravel and uneven surfaces along with an ADA restroom.

Royse City: the shortest and least expensive plan

Royse City Main Street’s pumpkin patch returns to Old Jail Park after the October 8 pumpkin delivery. The city lists hours of 11 AM–7 PM Monday through Saturday and 12:30–5 PM Sunday.

There is no admission charge to browse, though pumpkins cost extra. This is the strongest choice when a full farm day would be too expensive, too long or simply more stimulation than your child needs. Confirm that setup is complete before driving over.

What will a family visit actually cost?

At published rates, four paid admissions total $48 at Blase or $60 at Huddin before pumpkins, food or optional purchases. Blase admits children age one and younger free; Huddin admits children under 24 months free. Royse City has no browsing admission.

The cheapest version of either outing is admission plus one family pumpkin. Decide whether every child is choosing a pumpkin before you arrive. That small expectation-setting conversation can prevent the checkout area from becoming the hardest part of the day.

Which patch fits your child?

For babies and young toddlers, timing, shade and walking conditions matter more than the number of attractions. Preschoolers may get more from the hay maze, story trail and animal encounters. Older siblings may care most about how long they can explore. Keep the visit short enough that the ride home is still manageable.

  • Animal-loving preschooler: compare each farm’s current animal access
  • Heat-sensitive family: take the earliest comfortable reservation or opening window
